What you need to know:

  • The bankers have been the most consistent team in the series.
  • Before the Prinsloo success, the bankers already had the Kabeberi and Dala Sevens titles under their belts.

National sevens circuit champions KCB are now only one tournament away from retaining their national title after triumphing at the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru on Sunday.

The bankers beat hosts Nakuru 26-10 in the final to retain the title which they also won last year.

But most importantly they edged closer to retaining the overall title.

Victory in Nakuru left KCB perched on top of the table with 85 points after four legs.

Before the Prinsloo success, the bankers already had the Kabeberi and Dala Sevens titles under their belts.

They also reached the final of the Driftwood Sevens in Mombasa where they lost to Homeboyz.

MOST CONSISTENT

The bankers have been the most consistent team in the series this season sweeping all before them even in the absence of several key players including skipper Andrew Amonde.

Curtis Olago’s men showed the mark of champions during the quarter finals of the Prinsloo Sevens in a match they pulled all the stops to subdue Kabras 24-17.

Again in the final they showed character by rallying from behind to beat hosts Nakuru RFC in a tough match.

Stand in captain Oliver Mang’eni believes his team are hungrier for the national title than their rivals.

“We work hard as a team, give our all and correct the mistakes we make,” Mang’eni said.
