What you need to know:

  • Varsity lads Mean Machine face formidable Harlequins
  • Second row Brian Sagara, loose-head Curtis Lilako and blind side flanker and captain Philip Wamae will lead the mobile KCB pack.

It’s battle royal when champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) take on Nakuru as Mean Machine confront Kenya Harlequin in enticing Impala Floodlit semi-finals on Saturday at the Impala Sports Club ground.

The bankers are gunning for their fourth Cup success and also revenge against the Rift Valley side that denied them the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup.

Nakuru, fondly called Wanyore, are seeking their maiden Impala Floodlit title, but must first shut down KCB when they clash from 7.30pm.

TAKE HOME TITLE

Nine-time champions Mean Machine have vowed to take home the title. Will they walk their talk against a formidable Quins that has won the diadem three times.

Interestingly, the last time Machine and Quins met at Impala Floodlit final was three decades ago when the varsity students won 6-3. It was the second edition of the event.

The final will be held on October 25 with the winners pocketing Sh200,000.

Fans could also get goodies. Tournament sponsors South Africa Airways have offered a trip for two to South Africa for the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens to be won through a ticket raffle that will be conducted on the day of the finals. Other sponsors are Airtel, Keringet Water, South Africa Breweries Millers, Resolution Insurance and Standard Chartered Bank.

Wanyore, sponsored by Top Fry oil, weathered stiff challenge from Homeboyz to win 30-8 while KCB staged a magnificent rally from 0-11 at the break to tame hosts Impala Saracens 25-19 in the quarters last weekend. KCB coach Curtis Olago should stick to his winning side.

Scrum half Felix Wanjala, who stepped from the bench to change the fortunes of the bankers will retain his position.

Second row Brian Sagara, loose-head Curtis Lilako and blind side flanker and captain Philip Wamae will lead the mobile KCB pack.
