Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar, former champions Mwamba and Nakuru registered convincing victories to storm the Enterprise Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Fijian flanker Apenisa Natambua Apenisa scored a hat-trick of tries as Kabras Sugar bundled out 10-time champions Kenya Harlequin 25-5 at Kakamega Showground.

Four-times winners Mwamba, who are seeking their first title since 2013, stopped Western Bulls 31-15 at Railway Club in Nairobi. Nakuru advanced after beating Nondescripts 31-10 at Jamhuri Park Showground.

On May 28,2016, Kabras Sugar will take on last year’s Enterprise Cup losing finalists Homeboyz while Mwamba will be up against Kenya Cup losing finalists Impala in the quarter-final.

CRUSHED MEAN MACHINE

Nakuru will entertain Strathmore Leos while champions Kenya Commercial Bank are up against Blak Blad from Kenyatta University, who crushed visiting University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine 63-15.

Besides Apenisa, flanker Levi Ochieng' scored a try for Kabras Sugar as fullback Jone Kubu curled over a conversion and a penalty to put Kabras Sugar on course for their second major trophy this season.

Interestingly, it is Quins, who eliminated Kabras Sugar at the same stage after beating them 39-30 last year. They were meeting for the fourth time this season with Kabras having also tamed Quins 19-15 in Kenya Cup semis on their way to their maiden victory.

“The forwards once again won the battle for us. Although we are focused to win a double, we know the game against Homeboyz is not easy,” said Kabras Sugar deputy coach Anthony Ogot.

Tries from hooker Salaton Muturi and fullback Matt Wanjia gave Mwamba a 17-5 lead at the break. Winger Brian Kivasia made one conversion.
