Kabras Sugar and defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) will face off in the Enterprise Cup final on Saturday this week after winning their semi-final matches.

Kabras Sugar, the Kenya Cup champions, stayed in line for a double this season when they edged out Impala 24-5 in a rain-drenched semi-final clash at Kakamega Show ground.

KCB enhanced their chances of retaining the Enterprise Cup with a 22-0 blanking of Strathmore Leos at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.

In Kakamega, tries from winger Brian Tanga, prop  Hillary Mwajilwa, flanker Geoffrey Messo and substitute Malika Habil and two conversions from centre Fabian Olando and substitute Juma Martin spurred Kabras Sugar to their maiden Enterprise Cup final.

Interestingly, Kabras Sugar, who won their Kenya Cup semi-final and final under heavy rain, found themselves navigating through similar conditions as the heavens opened in Kakamega.

“The conditions weren’t favourable for the two teams but we managed to master the conditions and dictate through territorial kicking and clever defending,” said deputy coach Anthony Ogot who also played as the stand-in captain.

Ogot said they expect an equally tough duel against KCB in the final, having lost to them in the league.

“We are not eying revenge. We just want to play good rugby and to win,” said Ogot.

Impala skipper Duncan Ekasi rued the missed opportunity. “We committed too many errors but the score line is flattering because we dominated most of the second half,” said Ekasi adding that the absence of their nine international players made a difference.
