What you need to know:

  • The clash, which is a repeat of the Kenya Cup final, had earlier been slated for this Saturday.
  • Defending champions KCB will face Strathmore Leos at Impala Sports Club grounds in another semi-final duel.
  • Kabras and Impala last met on May 7 during the Kenya Cup final where the sugar millers triumphed 19-5.

Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar will host Impala Saracens in Enterprise Cup semi-finals in Kakamega on June 11.

The clash, which is a repeat of the Kenya Cup final, had earlier been slated for this Saturday. It was, however, pushed forward because of the burial of former Impala and Nakuru coach Eric Situma.

In the other semi-final, defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank are up against Strathmore Leos at Impala Sports Club grounds.

Kabras inched closer to a double when they eased through to their first Enterprise Cup semi-final after thrashing a depleted Homeboyz 60-22 at Railway Club, Nairobi.

Impala, who are chasing their first Enterprise Cup title since 2005, bundled out 2013 champions Mwamba 48-10 at Impala Sports Club on Saturday.
KCB, who are seeking their fifth diadem edged out Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 36-8 while Strathmore are on course for their maiden Enterprise trophy after flooring 2008 and 2014 winners Nakuru 32-13.

Kabras and Impala last met on May 7 during the Kenya Cup final where the sugar millers triumphed 19-5.

“It will be one of our toughest matches since we know what Impala are after. We would prove that our Kenya Cup exploits were not by chance,” said Kabras Sugar deputy coach Anthony Ogot.

DIFFERENT FORMATION

Impala Saracens director of coaching Fred Ollows said they are looking forward to a different formation what with some of their 10 players with the national 15s and 7s teams.

“It’s a good opportunity to take on Kenya Cup champions and it’s my hope that the missing players won’t reduce the excitement,” said Ollows, who foresaw an intensive and physical clash against Kabras Sugar.

After KCB saw Kabras Sugar snatch the Kenya Cup from their coffers they should defend Enterprise Cup jealously. They lifted the trophy last season after beating Homeboyz 28-0 in the final.

KCB and Strathmore head into the clash tied at 1-1 from Kenya Cup outing. Strathmore won the first leg 27-25 before the bankers claimed a firm revenge 31-15 in the second leg. “We are both hungry for a silverware this season but we are under no pressure,” said Strathmore Leos’ coach Mitch Ocholla.

“We are aware KCB have lethal forwards and equally nimble backs but we have been doing our homework well,” he added.
