League champs KCB eye Great Rift 10-a-side hat trick

Buoyed by their league triumph, Kenya Commercial Bank will be seeking a third straight cup success when Top Fry Great Rift 10-a-side tournament is held over the weekend in Nakuru.

The bankers are seeded first in Pool A that features Egerton, Masaku and United States International University (USIU).

KCB, who successfully defended the title last year, beating Strathmore Leos 18-15 in sudden death, are favourites to top the pool.

Strathmore Leos, who have won the diadem four times, are in Pool B with Catholic University Monks, Kenya College of Accounts University (KCAU) and Kisumu.

The Leos, who won last in 2012, were joint winners with Mwamba and Nakuru in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

POOL HIGHLIGHT

Homeboyz highlights Pool C that has Mwamba, Eldoret, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Hosts Nakuru, winners of Plate last year, are in Pool E with Kenya Harlequin, Comras and University of Eldoret while University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine have last year’s Bowl winners Kabras Sugar, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Kenya Sharks in Pool D.

Western Bulls, seven times champions Impala Saracens, Bungoma and Technical University of Kenya are in Pool F of the Division One contest that has six groups of 24 teams.

The second division has 12 teams banded in to four pools of three and is headlined by Daystar who are in Pool A with Mumias and KPA Eldoret.
