What you need to know:

  • The win at Twickenham Stadium saw them collect 10 points for a total of 48 points.
  • It earned Kenya a 13th place standing in the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The Kenya Sevens team wrapped up the 2014/2015 World Rugby Sevens Series with a Bowl victory, beating Argentina 26-12 at the London Sevens.

The win at Twickenham Stadium saw them collect 10 points for a total of 48 points for a final 13th in the World Rugby Sevens Series standing as they now turn their focus to the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifiers in November.

Argentina cashed in on a porous Kenyan defense to score through Gaston Revol. But Billy “The Kid” Odhiambo would strike back with some hard running on the left before offloading from a tackle to Collins Injera, who would score his 203rd World Sevens Series try to level at 7-7.

Odhiambo, 21, was to get his 20th try of the Series as Biko Adema converted for a 14-7 lead at the break.

Humphrey Kayange would be the provider to Oscar Ayodi who sliced on the inside to score and extend the lead at 21-7.

Ayodi was to put through Bush Mwale on the wing before he made a 50 metre dash to score as at 26-7. A last minute effort by Rodrigo Etchart was too little too late for the Pumas.

MILESTONE

Earlier, speedster Collins Injera achieved a milestone when he scored his 200th World Rugby Series try as Kenya Sevens beat Japan 24-12 to reach Bowl semi-finals.

And the 28-year-old celebrated in style upon scoring when he pulled out a marker pen from his sock and signed both the ball and the camera facing him with noteworthy fanfare.

The try by Injera, who is Kenya's highest try scorer, having crossed the line 42 times during the 2008/2009 World Rugby Series season, saw Kenya stretch their lead to 19-0 after Biko Adema converted.

It was Injera’s elder brother, Huphrey Kayange who went over but Adema missed for a 5-0 lead.

Dennis Ombachi would score his third try of the tournament before Adema converted for a 12-0 lead.

That was when Injera, who is now the third all-time highest scorer, went for his milestone.

Santiago Gomez from Argentina tops with 230 tries followed by Ben Collings from England on 220.

Injera has the opportunity to close in on the two, who have retired. But will Injera accomplish the mission? Only time will tell.

Billy Odhiambo stretched the lead 24-0 with a try at half time. There were anxious moments in the second half when Japan launched a breathtaking comeback.

Lote Tuoqiri weaved through the Kenyan defense to pull back at 7-24 before Kazushi Hano’s long range try but time was against the Japanese.

Injera, Dennis Ombachi and Billy Odhiambo would then score a brace of tries each as Kenya beat Samoa 38-7 to advance to the Bowl final.

It was a see-saw game between Kenya and Samoa. Injera was on the mark for his 201st try. But Samoa's Faalemiga Selesele hit back only for Dennis Ombachi to bludgeon through a quick double. Odhiambo’s try extended Kenya’s lead to 26- 7 at the break.

Odhiambo and Injera would cross over again as Adema made his fourth conversion to seal Kenya’s place in the Bowl final.
