“Every team in this competition is strong, that is why we need to be on top of our game if we are to go far,” said Okune.

Former champions Lenana lost 3-23 to Ofafa in last year’s final at the Upper Hill School.

In another match, Strathmore clashes with Jamhuri High School in the afternoon at the same venue while NPC Buru Buru will tackle Mutuini.

Upper Hill will fancy their chances in Pool C where they are pooled against Parklands, Makini and Aquinas. Upper Hill will be up against Parklands while Makini take on Aquinas.

Pool D and E matches will see Nairobi School play Dagoretti, Sunshine face Kangemi, Muhuri Muchiri battle Highway and hosts St Mary’s play Ruthmitu.

In girls’ hockey, defending champions and hosts Moi Girls have a date with St Georges and later play Kenya High in Pool A.

Moi Girls coach Amwai Olubai has told his team to keep clean sheets for them to retain their title.

The winners and runners-up of the Nairobi Games will proceed to the Metropolitan Region Games.
