Scrum-half George Mutuku added a conversion and a penalty for Mwamba, in a performance that enhanced their chances of reaching the top six play-offs.

Fullback Kevin Keegan converted inside centre Patrice Agunda’s first half try but all was in vain as Quins lost to Kulabu after years of dominance.

However, Mwamba remained seventh on the log but bolstered their tally to 30 points while Quins stayed second with 45 points after the 11th round. Results from the rest of the matches went as expected.

Kenya Commercial Bank not only upheld their unbeaten run to 11 matches but also stretched their lead to 50 points after they crushed host Strathmore Leos 50-15 at the Jamhuri Park show grounds.

Kabras improved their tally to 40 points but stayed third after their comprehensive 41-14 victory against hosts Blak Blad at Kenyatta University’s grounds while Homeboyz are still fourth with 37 points after they mauled Mean Machine 38-0 at the University of Nairobi.

Impala Saracens sneaked in a slim 17-15 victory against hosts Western Bulls in Kakamega to stay fifth with 35 points followed by Nakuru on 34 after they edged out Nondescripts 20-12 at Jamhuri Park show grounds.

“Everything just fell in place for us and our set-pieces especially the scrums and lineouts,” said Mwamba skipper and inside centre Brad Owako.
