Nakuru clinch Prinsloo Sevens

  • In the semis Nakuru fought back after trailing 7-12 to beat 2009 champions Strathmore Leos 26-19 while Homeboyz booked their place by trouncing Impala 15-5.
  • Kabras Sugar won the plate final by beating Quins 28-12. In qualifying for the finals Kabras beat the outgoing champions KCB 17-5 while Quins outwitted Nwamva 21-17. 
  • Blak Blad thrashed Western Bulls 12-5 to take home the bowl title while Catholic University of Eastern Africa lifted the Shield crown with a 19-17 win over Makueni 19-17.

Hosts Nakuru RFC ended a nine-year wait to clinch the Prinsloo Sevens title with a 7-5 win over Homeboyz in a thrilling final showdown at Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday.

Captain Geoffrey Ominde scored a superb try and stepped forward to make the conversion in the first half to secure victory for the home team.

“I am so excited for helping my tem win the title. I dedicate my try and conversion to my team mates,” Ominde said.

Homeboyz scored their lone try through Oscar Ayodi.

In the third play offs Strathmore Leos beat Resolution Impala 19-17.
