Samurai Wakulima and Homeboyz rugby football clubs stole the show as they sealed their places in the quarter-finals of the Masaku Sevens on Saturday at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
Wakulima, which is made up of current and past Kenya internationals, stormed the Cup quarter-finals after recording two victories in their opening Pool D matches.

They thrashed Kilunda 54-0 in their opening match before handing Mean Machine a rugby lesson with an impressive 54-0 to sail to today’s Cup quarters.

Led by skipper Patrice Agunda, Wakulima made light work of their opponents impressing the crowds with their wonderful play.

Kenya international Dan Sikuta was in a class of his own scoring two hat tricks in both matches to top the scoring charts on the second day of action.

The Mwamba player linked well with Billy “the kid” Odhiambo to terrorise the Kilunda and Mean Machine defences as they scored at will.

The likes of internationals Biko Adema, Horace Otieno, Oscar Ouma, Cyprian Kuto and Michael Wanjala impressed for Wakulima at the fourth edition of the event.

Wakulima, coached by Lavin Asego and assisted by siblings Humphrey Kayange and Collins Injera, will fancy their chances of lifting the gong when the event ends on Sunday.

“We came together as past and current national team players to form the team in order to keep fit with the national team not in action. We just want to have fun and maintain our fitness”, Asego told Nation Sport.

The Mwamba player, however, warned against underestimating other teams insisting his side will take a game at a time. Homeboyz also sailed into the Cup quarters after registering victories in their opening two matches. The DJs beat Dagoretti 49-0 in their opening match before cruising past JKUAT 40-0.
