Strathmore flog Nakuru to take Great Rift 10s

Strathmore University’s Leos reigned supreme when they won the 22nd edition of the Menengai Oil Great Rift 10-a-side when they punished hosts Nakuru 12-0 at Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday.

The Leos first won the trophy in 2009 and the following year they shared it with Mwamba before they again shared it with Nakuru last year.

In reaching the last two, the dazzling Leos side beat their fellow students, University of Nairobi Mean Machine, 5-0 in the quarter-finals and followed this win with a 22-0 thrashing of Western Bulls in the semi-finals.

Wanyore edge Impala

Nakuru made the finals after beating Mwamba 14-5 in the quarters and in the semis the home boys, fondly known as “Wanyore”, edged Impala 21-19.

Homeboyz are the new Bowl champions after beating Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 7 -5.

Earlier, in the quarters, Homeboyz hammered Egerton University, Njoro, 12-10 and in the semis they outplayed Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) 21-0.

KCB strolled into the finals after beating United tates International University - Africa (USIU-A) 10-7 in the quarters and in the semis the bankers silenced Eldoret 19-5.

USIU-A are the new Shield winners after defeating fellow students Egerton 19-10 in a tough final match.

In the semis, Egerton hit Multimedia University 7-5 while USIU-A had an easy passage into the finals when they beat Molo 10-0.

Mwamba went home with the Plate after beating Blak Blad 7-5.

In the semis, the ‘Black Shirts’ defeated Kenya Harlequin 5-0 while Blak Blad hit Mean Machine in a similar fashion.
