Mwamba, Homeboyz, Leos, Quins and Blak Blad advance at Dala Sevens

Strathmore Leos, Blak Blad, Mwamba, Kenya Harlequin and Homeboyz on Saturday produced stunning performances to advance to the Dala Sevens quarter-finals in Kisumu.

They qualified after winning their first two matches with a game to spare at the ASK Mamboleo showground.

However, defending champions Top Fry Nakuru lost twice, first to Harlequins 28-0 and before going down 27-0 to Blak Blad to bow out of title contention.

Quins launched their quest to recapture the title by edging Nakuru 28-0 and Comras 19-0.

In their match against Comras, Mark Ong’iyo scored a brace of tries and Andrew Alusi added another one with Andrew Gathana and David Amunga making successful conversions for the 19-0 win.

Homeboyz, who won the opening National Sevens Series circuit in Nakuru, top the Series on 60 points. The team beat Menengai Oilers 17-7 in the first encounter before thrashing Kisumu 24-0.

Four-time Series winners Mwamba beat Kisumu 27-0 in the first match and floored Menengai Oilers 27-5.

Fourth-placed Strathmore Leos beat Mean Machine (UoN) 33-14 in the varsity derby before strolling 36-10 past Nondies to also book their place in the quarter-finals.
