What you need to know:

  • The final match set for June 25, 2016 at the RFUEA grounds is expected to be a physical battle.
  • Although Kabras play their first Enterprise Cup, they will be up against an all too familiar foe in KCB.

Kabras Sugar’s 24-5 victory over Impala Saracens in the Enterprise Cup semi-finals kept alive their hopes of completing a double this season, having already bagged the Kenya Cup league.

Kabras will be looking to dethrone reigning Enterprise Cup champions Kenya Commercial Bank —who beat Strathmore Leos 22-0 in the second semi-final duel.

The final match set for June 18, 2016 at the RFUEA grounds is expected to be a physical battle.

Many had written off Kabras following a poor start to their Kenya Cup campaign that saw the three-year old side languish in seventh place for the first half of the league fixtures. The team struggled to get its new players working at the same wavelength.

PLAYERS STRUGGLED

Kabras assistant coach Anthony Ogot said his players struggled to execute new game plans. “We tried new game plans which didn’t work. The new players, hadn’t jelled well,” said Ogot.

Although Kabras play their first Enterprise Cup, they will be up against an all too familiar foe in KCB.

KCB are laying in wait for Kabras in what may be a grudge match after Kabras’ snapped up two key players from the Thika Road side—centre Fabian Olando and eighth man Max Adaka.

The Thika Road side have lost more key players to the national teams. They are without Curtis Lilako, Moses Amusala, Darwin Mukidza, Andrew Amonde and Oliver Mang’eni for the final.

Kabras will turn on their usual physical style, which involves forwards like man-mountain Hillary Mwanjilwa, Duncan Mwangi and Fijian Apensia Natabua.

They will also look to their lethal backline that has the likes of Jone Kubu, Olando and Brian Tanga.
