A joint operation by Kenya and Uganda security forces at the border town of Busia Thursday morning saw the arrest of 26 suspects.

Busia police boss Micheni Muthamia said that the suspects had taken the no man’s land at Marachi as a field to carry out criminal activities.

Mr Muthamia said that among the suspects were 11 Kenyans and 15 Ugandans adding that Kenya police, administration police and Uganda’s rapid response unit were involved in the operation.

“They have been mugging people who use the area and we also managed to get 3kg of bhang that they normally smoke while engaging in different criminal activities,” Mr Muthamia said.

The police boss said the Kenya suspects were handed over to him and he surrendered the Ugandan suspects to its authorities.

Mr Muthamia said that the 11 Kenyan suspects will be charged in court for engaging in criminal activities at the border town.
