Armed robbers on Monday night broke into a residential house in Karen estate, off Lang'ata road and made away with cash and valuables.

According to Joshua Sagini, one of the occupants of the house, the robbers beat the watchman unconscious then used a pickaxe to dig through the wall.

One of the robbers had a pistol while the others had crude weapons.

“They also beat up my brother injuring him badly before escaping with our valuables,” said Mr Sagini.

The robbers made away with smart phones, laptops and money, about Ksh130,000 and $600.

“It took about an hour after the robbers had left for the police to show up,” he added.

There has been a recent surge in gun crime in the city. Last week police gunned down three suspects along Kangundo road while they were attempting to rob a petrol station.
