A 43-year-old butcher was on Thursday stabbed to death in a dispute over Sh20 with a customer.
Police said a man walked into the butchery in Othaya town and ordered for matumbo (tripe) worth Sh20 and directed that it be cooked.
However, as the 52-year-old man was leaving the butchery, he was reminded that he had not paid for the meal, but he declined to pay resulting in an argument.
Central provincial police spokesman Muthamia Mwenda said the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the butcher in the neck.
The victim was rushed to Othaya District Hospital where he died as he was being treated.
Police said the attacker, who sustained injuries on the fingers was later arrested and held at the Othaya police station. He will be charged with murder.
Elsewhere, police recovered a stolen vehicle at Mweiga township in Nyeri County after five people suspected to be carjackers abandoned it moments after stealing it from the owner.
Police sources said five men armed with pangas accosted the 57-year-old owner of the vehicle as he drove to his Mweiga home.
They stole a mobile phone and drove off in the victim’s vehicle, only to dump it a few kilometres from the scene of the robbery.
The motorist was not injured. Police are searching for the gangsters who escaped on foot.
