Dadaab blast kills policeman

An Administration Policeman was killed and three others injured after their vehicle was blown up in a terror attack at Daadab refugee camp on Monday.

The officers were on patrol duties at the Ifo 2 section of the expansive refuge camp when their vehicle ran over an explosive.

North Eastern province police boss Leo Nyongesa said no suspects had been arrested.

“The survivors were seriously injured and have been airlifted to Nairobi for treatment. It was an improvised explosive device. Our officers are combing the area and we hope to arrest those responsible soon,” he said.

The incident happens amid heightened surveillance at the camps to flush out Al-Shabaab members who might be hiding among refugees.

In October, three General Service unit officers were injured in a similar attack by suspected Al-Shabaab members.
