Bushiangala Technical Training Institute, is a public institution registered by the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology, which is situated in Ikolomani, Kakamega County.

It is located off Sigalagala-Bukura road, approximately 10km from Sigalagala junction and about 20km from Kakamega Town.

This college was started as a skill upgrading centre in 1991 by Voluntary Service Overseas under the support of the European Economic Commission. The main objective of the college was to upgrade skills for Youth Polytechnic graduates, instructors and managers.

The Voluntary Service Overseas Group withdrew from the college in 1993 and it was taken over by the Ministry of Labour which replaced the short-term courses with Artisan and craft courses.

The Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology formally took over the running of Bushiangala Technical Training Institute in 2008. 

Currently, the college is offering competitive courses in Artisan certificate and Diploma courses in Electrical, Fashion Design, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Plumbing, Automotive Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Supply Chain Management, Social Work and Community Development, Secretarial Studies, Applied Biology Science Lab, among others which has seen our students progressing in their Education level, being self employed and working in the job markets.

The college began with a very low population of less than 100 students which has continually improved to current population of 1,800 students. The population having tremendously increased as a result of the institution partnering with HELB, KUCCPS, NYS, CDF, Kakamega County Government and Focus driving school. The college represents the face of the country as it has students from all over the country. Tarmacking of the Sigalagala–Bukura road has opened up opportunities for the residents and easier accessibility to the institute. Economic status of the community around has increased as they are involved in building houses which serves the students and the trainers.

The college stands on a parcel of land measuring 12 acres and is in the process of acquiring more land.
