NAIVASHA HORTICULTURAL Fair, an annual exhibition for small and medium scale farmers, will be held between September 23rd and 24th at the Naivasha Sports Club, its organisers have announced.

The exhibition which started in 2002 with an aim to bring together all the major players in the horticultural industry to boost business and enhance interactions within the horticultural sector, has attracted the attention of thousands of smallholder farmers.

In this year’s fair, the smallholder farmers have been allocated a space in the middle of the park where they shall have easy access to the big players in the industry.

“When people speak of horticulture, the first thing that pops into most minds is flowers. True, flower farming has come to epitomise horticulture, especially in Naivasha, but there is a lot more business in horticulture than just flowers,” the organisers explained in a statement.

NH Fair has been encouraging the small scale farmers to be part of the fair and learn modern farming skills that will help them enhance production on their farms.

These include proper use of chemicals, fertilisers, machinery and other farm inputs that will scale up their production.

NH Fair has in the past donated greenhouses, water tanks, drip lines and other farm inputs to support smallholder farmers.
