A farm machinery company has introduced new series of tractors that are efficient in terms of fuel use guaranteeing higher productivity to the farmer.

FMD East Africa, the distributors of Massey Ferguson tractors, have introduced the mf 4700 global series, with Fergus Robley, the general manager Africa, noting the machines are more reliable and economise on fuel.

“With the new tractor model, a farmer is guaranteed to achieve 25 per more productivity and fuel savings of five to ten per cent,” said Robley, adding the tractor has a lift capacity of 3,000kg, making it ideal for mounting most farm implements like planters, harrows or sprayers.

He noted factors such as climate change and increased input costs are driving more people out of agribusiness, thus farmers require efficient and affordable machineries.

“Once seated, manually-operated controls are sited in the most ergonomic positions, making them comfortable to operate and reliable over the course of many thousands of tractor hours,” remarked Robley.

The company holds “Xtra care Clinics” throughout the country where technical staff carry out mechanical checks and offer service and advice on spare parts for the owners of their tractors, said Robley.
