Smallholder farmers are set to benefit from a free short message service that will enable them to access and share vital agricultural information without the Internet.

The service named Internet for People with no Internet was launched in Nakuru County at a stakeholder’s meeting.

The platform, driven by WeFarm -a peer-to-peer network, will enable farmers to share crop and livestock data via the texts without leaving their farms.

“Farmers can ask questions about pressing agricultural issues and receive crowd sourced answers from other farmers around the world within minutes,” said WeFarm Africa Business Manager Dennis Odera.
