Suspect in murder of Eldoret policewoman too frail for trail

A prime suspect in the killing of an Eldoret police officer was taken to hospital on Monday after vomiting in court due to sickness.
Joshua Ogach seemed too frail to respond to an application by the investigating officer for his further detention for five days for police to complete the investigation.
“The accused person cannot respond to your application since he is in so bad a condition that he cannot even stand on his own. The police officers attached to Langas Police Station should take him to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital," said Deputy Registrar Grace Sitati.
FAMILIAR MAN
It is believed that constable Robinah Moraa Nyandaro, who was based at Naiberi Police Station in Ainabkoi Sub-county, was killed by her estranged lover last Wednesday.
Her neighbours found her body the next day in a pool of blood in her rented house in Miti-Moja Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
Caretaker Stanley Some said that at around 10am on the fateful day, he saw a white Toyota car parked at the gate. He said he later saw the occupant at Ms Moraa's house.
“It was around 4 pm when the man hurriedly emerged from the house, went straight to the car and sped off. I did not suspect anything because I had spotted the man with the deceased on several occasions,” he said.
THE SUSPECT
Mr Ogach was arrested in a Nakuru hospital last Saturday after a failed suicide attempt.
Uasin Gishu Police Commander Johnstone Ipara said that the accused visited Ms Moraa on the day of her murder.
He said Mr Ogach travelled from Nairobi to Eldoret to check up on her.
Earlier, the investigating officer requested that the suspect remain in custody since crucial witnesses had not recorded statements. He also said he needed to hold an identification parade.
The Deputy Registrar said that the case will be mentioned on Tuesday for further directions to be given.
