At least seven people were killed in a road crash on Friday evening.
They died on the spot after a 14-seater matatu collided with a cane tractor in Malaki on Kitale-Bungoma road.
Police said five people died on the spot while two others died on the way to hospital.
Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred after the matatu heading to Bungoma tried to overtake another vehicle, but collided with the Kitale-bound tractor owned by West Kenya Sugar Company.
The accident happened around 8.30pm
On the same day last week, six passengers died after their matatu collided with a tractor on the Kitale-Webuye highway in Bungoma.
