Bungoma Deputy Governor Ngome Kibanani was rushed to Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday morning after he fell sick as he prepared to attend a talk show on a local radio station.

Prof Ngome was set to appear on the morning programme at Sulwe FM but he did not make to it.

Bungoma Director of Communication Tim Machi told the Nation that the deputy governor woke up "feeling weak" and that he was taken to the hospital immediately.

"It is not true that he collapsed. He was set to attend the show but when he woke up today he felt weak and he went to (The) Nairobi Hospital," he said.

Prof Ngome deputises Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and were both elected on a Ford-Kenya ticket in the August 8, 2017 General Election.

He is a renowned academician from the minority Tachoni community residing in Bungoma County.

The duo unseated Mr Ken Lusaka, the first governor of Bungoma, who has since become the Senate speaker.
