Three Nguviu High School students suspected of arson will remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The students, accused of setting their two dormitories on fire on Sunday, will stay in police custody for the next four days.

Embu Resident Magistrate Samuel Mutai granted prosecutors and Constable Nicholas Sang more time to gather evidence.

They are being held at Runyenjes police station and the case will be mentioned on July 20, 2018.

On Monday, Embu County education officials ordered the closure of the institution.

County Education director Margaret Mwirigi said 224 students have lost their property.

It is the first time the school has experienced such an incident.
