Hundreds of Garissa High School students on Wednesday took to the streets to protest alleged grabbing of their institution’s land.

The angry students destroyed stalls that had been erected in the school before marching to the county headquarters where they were addressed by the county commissioner.

The students caused a traffic snarl-up on the Mwingi-Garissa highway as they marched to the governor’s office, which also houses the regional and county administrators.

The students claimed that during the school holiday, a private developer pulled down the school’s fence and started building stalls.

They vowed to continue with the protests until the school fence is re-erected.
