The Isiolo County government has cancelled a tender for the supply of two motor vehicles over their high engine capacity.
Governor Mohamed Kuti said the tender which had appeared last week in local dailies and which elicited public outcry was done without his knowledge and should not have been advertised.
On Wednesday, the county government cancelled a notice it had put up in one of the local dailies for the supply and delivery of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2018 model, Lexus LX570 2017 and a fire engine.
“I don’t need that kind of a car (Lexus LX570), I have told them to cancel the advert and we will have a vehicle with an engine capacity which is allowable by government standards,” said Governor Kuti.
He said that he would purchase the same model for private use from his pocket.
The governor, who had received criticism from social media users who were unhappy with the tender notice, said his administration had corrected the mistake adding that the tender was not supposed to be advertised before scrutiny.
