A student at the Shamberere Technical Training Institute in Kakamega North Sub-County was on Wednesday arraigned for the murder of his fellow student on Monday night after a confrontation in a suspected love triangle.

Mr Denis Mwangu is accused of stabbing Denis Mainde to death at the institution after an altercation over a girlfriend.

Police sought the Kakamega court to be allowed to detain Mr Mwangu for 10 days to allow investigations and a post mortem examination be concluded.

The suspect will also undergo psychiatric test to determine whether he is fit for trial.

Mr Mwangu had accused Mainde of snatching his girlfriend and stabbed him in the chest severally.

He was rushed to Malava hospital where he succumbed.

The case will be mentioned on June 28.
