Haki Afrika puts police on the spot after Mariakani pupil killed

Haki Africa has given the police seven days to reveal the identity of officers who allegedly killed a 16-year-old pupil of Ndatani Primary School in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.
The organisation's Program Officer Francis Auma has threatened to organise a protest outside the Mariakani Police Station along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway if the said officer is not produced and prosecuted.
He said they will be carrying the pupil’s body during the protest in solidarity with the family.
"We want to see the culprits facing murder charges before the seven days expire," he said.
He spoke when he visited the boy’s family in Karimani II in Ndatani village.
He was accompanied by Kaloleni MP Paul Katana, Kaya Fungo MCA Alfonse Baya and family lawyer Peter Omwenga.

The Kaloleni MP demanded for the arrest of the police officer allegedly involved in the shooting of the innocent pupil.
He at the same time condemned police for “giving misleading information”.
Mr Katana questioned how the pupil’s body found its way to Mombasa's Coast Provincial General Hospital mortuary all the way from Kilifi County.
At the same time, Mr Auma told the police to stop intimidating the parents of the boy and to respect the Bill of Rights.
"The killing of the Standard Seven pupil is part of the impunity by the police service,’’ he said.
Contacted, Mariakani OCPD Kennedy Osando declined to comment on the matter.
A post-mortem on the boy's body will be done on Monday.
