Baricho Boys leads in KCSE exam in Kirinyaga County

Baricho Boys Secondary School is now the new academic giant in Kirinyaga County after beating other schools in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination whose results were released on Wednesday by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.
The school managed to scoop seven As and 60 A-, emerging the best in the region.
It managed to obtain a mean score of 8.8 in the examination.
The school improved tremendously as last year, it had only one A plain and 15 A-.
THIRD IN 2018
In 2018, it was distant third after it was beaten by Kabare Girls and Mutira Girls secondary schools.
This year, Baricho has trounced the two girls’ schools.
Out of the 375 candidates who sat the examination at Baricho, 322 qualified to join public universities.
The school’s principal John Kuria attributed the excellent performance to hard work, determination and team work.
"In the past the school used to lead in the examination but fell on the way but now it has bounced back to reclaim its position," said Mr Kuria.
Kabare Girls was ranked position two with a mean score of 8.4 while Mutira was third with 8.3.
Meanwhile, Kiaritha was the best mixed day secondary school in the region after 101 of its candidates qualified to join public universities against 61 last year. It obtained a mean score of 7.26 in the 2019 KCSE exam results.
