Woman arrested for torturing nine-year-old step daughter

Police in Kisii have arrested a woman for scalding her eight-year-old step daughter using a red hot knife.

The 24-year-old suspect is said to have tied the minor to a bed before torturing her for stealing Sh50 on Saturday.

The girl's father, a boda boda operator in Kisii town, was away from their Mosocho village when the incident happened.

Area Chief Wilter Nyamboke said the girl had been locked up in a room for two days after the incident.   

SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police on Monday said that the minor was subjected to torture and sexual assault.

The victim was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

Medics at hospital said the girl, who sustained serious burns on her thighs, buttocks and private parts, would undergo a surgery.  

The suspect, who has been detained at Kisii Central Police Station, will be taken to court as soon as the police are through with their investigations.
