University students injured after bus rolls

Several South Eastern Kenya University students were injured when their bus rolled near Kwa Vonza market in Kitui County on Sunday.

The incident happened after the driver failed to negotiate a bend at the junction leading to the institution.

Lower Yatta OCPD Charles Chacha said 35 passengers were taken to Kitui Level Hospital; four were admitted while the rest we treated and discharged.

"All the injured were treated and discharged except four, whose injuries were serious," Mr Chacha said.

He said majority of the passengers were university students who were reporting back.

The bus operates between Kwa Vonza and the university’s main campus.
