Boy, 12, who went missing in Kwale found in Nairobi

A 12-year-old boy who had been reported missing about two days ago in the coastal town of Ukunda, Kwale County, has been found alive in Nairobi, nearly 530km away.
Brian Githinji, a class seven pupil at St Angelo Primary School went missing on Wednesday evening at their home in Kona ya Musa, Ukunda.
His father, Githinji, a mechanical engineer at Base Titanium, says his son was kidnapped and dragged into a black Toyota Noah vehicle while he was playing with other children at Dr Babla Secondary School playing ground.
Inside the car, the father adds, three people asked Brian to direct them to Gavana barber shop. Mr Githinji said that the trio then wrapped a clothe on his son's eyes and drove away.
"They tricked him to show them the barber shop which is not far away but they spread some concoction on him and he became unconscious," he said.
GOOD SAMARITAN
Mr Githinji said the only time his son became conscious he was around Mtito Andei heading to Nairobi from Mombasa aboard a Chania bus.
"The black Noah was abandoned in Ukunda but what we are not aware of is whether they booked the bus in Ukunda or Mombasa," he said.
Brian was found by a good Samaritan in Nairobi at 10.45pm on Thursday at the Modern Coast bus booking offices.
Mr Githinji said since his son knew his mobile telephone contacts, he called his father using the good Samaritan's phone.
He said his son is now with his relatives and plans are underway to airlift him to Ukunda and for a medical check-up.
"We are happy as a family because I spoke to him and he told me he is OK. No harm was done to him but he will go for a medical check-up once he lands in Ukunda," he said.
FRANTIC SEARCH
When Brian disappeared, he wore a black T-shirt with red sleeves and a pair of black skinny jeans trousers.
The desperate father said there had been a frantic search for his son including posting missing person notices on popular social media platforms.
The family also reported Brian's disappearance at the Diani Police Station, where it was recorded under OB number 36/21/11/2019.
He said they searched in neighbours’ and relatives’ homes to hospitals, and mortuaries, but none of those efforts bore fruits.
"We thank everyone who was concerned with the mysterious disappearance of our son. I'm going to report to police in Ukunda and tell them that my son has been found alive," he said.
