Msambweni Secondary School in Kwale County has been closed for one week after a failed attempt to burn a dormitory.

County Director of Education Bridget Wambua said they school was closed after consultation with the board of management.

"We are yet to establish the reasons why the students attempted to burn the dormitory but investigations have been launched," she said.

Ms Wambua said the Sunday fire was contained and nobody was injured.

She added that three bottles of petrol and two bottles of kerosene were found in a dormitory.

Last year, two dormitories were burnt.
