“We have arrested three notorious drug suspects who have been on the police radar for long. All of them were nabbed in Tchundwa village. We found them in possession of several sachets of heroine. We also recovered tools we believe are being used in selling, smoking and sniffing the drugs. We will present them to court in the course of the day,” said Mr Mugambi.

PEDDLERS WARNED

The OCPD said the war on narcotics has been intensified in all parts of the county and warned all drug barons and peddlers to either stop the trade or leave the county altogether before the long arm of the law catches up with them.

He said the crackdown is still ongoing and urged the public to give any information which will help in seizing more drugs to the police.

He also called on willing drug peddlers to surrender to the police before the law catches up with them.

Mr Mugambi warned boat operators against colluding with traffickers to ferry drugs into Lamu and other islands.

“The crackdown on drugs and drug peddlers continues. On various occasions, we have organised barazas and warned locals to stop peddling drugs. I want to tell those still doing the business that they have two options, either stop or leave Lamu because either way, we shall catch up with them,” said Mr Mugambi.
