Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Jubilee party women leaders in Machakos County have urged registered voters in Ukambani to cast their ballot in the repeat presidential election.

Speaking separately Dr Mutua and Ms Agnes Muthama, who contested for the Woman Rep seat on the Jubilee ticket, said supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta should turn up on October 26 and vote without fear.

PEACE

Ms Muthama launched the Women Brigades lobby group in Machakos and issued the more than 500 women with red berets with the insignia of the Jubilee Party.

The women also held prayers for peace at the Mulu Mutisya Gardens.

Ms Muthama told the women to be steadfast in their support for President Kenyatta.

"Let us have a stand. Those women who are neither here nor there are not showing good example," said Ms Muthama.

SECURITY GUARANTEED

Speaking to journalists in his office, Dr Mutua assured Machakos residents of their security and said those planning chaos will be dealt with.

He urged Ukambani residents to vote on Thursday.

"Those who want to vote will have their rights protected. Those who don't want to vote should stay at home," Governor Mutua said.

He added that he and his family will vote in the repeat election.

Mr Mutua claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s silence on the poll boycott was “loaded” and could be an indication that he was not supporting Nasa’s call for an election boycott.

"He does not want to be caught in the violence mix which can land him before the ICC," said the governor.

Dr Mutua said he will chair a County Security Committee meeting to discuss how security will be beefed up during and after the election.
