Car hits and kills two on motorbike in Migori town

Two people, one of them an Administration Police (AP) officer, were Tuesday night killed in a grisly road crash on in Migori town.

The AP officer attached at Kowino Police Post in the outskirts of Migori town was riding on a motorcycle together with a woman from Migori town when they were hit by a car at Namba junction along the Migori-Isibania highway.

“A private vehicle which was trying to overtake another vehicle hit them from behind,” Joseph Sarara, an eye witness, said.

He said the driver of the car lost control almost hitting him.

GOING TO WORK

Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said the officer was going to work when the incident happened.

“He died on the spot while the lady died as she was receiving treatment at Ojele Memorial Hospital. The two bodies were taken to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination,” Mr Nthenge said.

He said police are holding the driver of the car at Migori Police Station as investigations continue.

"The driver of the car that hit the deceased is being held at Migori Police Station. We shall investigate and take appropriate action should he be found guilty of reckless driving," added Mr Nthenge.
