Jabess Oduor, an aspirant for the Mombasa senatorial seat, has been arrested for allegedly causing chaos at a voting centre in Nyali.

Urban OCPD Lucas Ogara said the Kongowea Ward representative was arrested on Tuesday at Furaha Primary School in Nyali, accused of incitement and causing chaos at the polling station.

Mr Oduor, who is vying on a Wiper Democratic Party ticket, is expected to be charged in court on Wednesday.

He is among the MCAs who ditched ODM and joined Wiper, claiming they would be rigged during party nominations.

His arrest comes barely a day after Wiper secretary-general Hassan Omar Hassan warned that any aspirant found causing chaos during the primaries will be automatically disqualified.

Senator Hassan also urged police to deal "ruthlessly" with anyone who disrupts the polls.
