Brother and sister perish in accident on way to school

  • An 18-year-old Form Two student died on the spot, while her 14-year-old brother died undergoing treatment at Bomu Hospital.

Two siblings died after a motorcycle they were riding was hit by an oil tanker in Mombasa Tuesday morning.

The brother and sister were heading to school when the accident occurred at Mataa ya Ndege on old Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

Changamwe OCPD Peter Omanwa told the Nation that the two learners were on their way to school on a boda boda when it collided with the trailer heading to Mombasa.

“We are interrogating the driver of the trailer as we investigate this incident. An 18-year-old Form Two student died on the spot, while her 14-year-old brother died undergoing treatment at Bomu Hospital,” Mr Omanwa said.

He said the boda boda rider is undergoing treatment at Bomu Hospital.

In another accident along the same highway, a mechanic died after he was hit by a lorry in Miritini.

Mr Omanwa said the driver of the lorry is being interrogated at Changamwe Police Station.

The bodies were taken to Coast General Hospital mortuary.
