Mob lynches boy, 14, accused of raping and killing schoolgirl

A mob in Murang’a lynched a 14-year-old boy accused of raping and killing a four-year-old girl.
Residents raided the boy’s home on Tuesday morning and beat him to death.
The boy died while undergoing treatment at Murang’a Hospital after residents beat him after raiding him out of his hiding place on Tuesday morning.
The boy is accused of raping the girl on Tuesday last week when she was returning home from school.
Locals say they lynched the boy because they had lost faith in the police.
"When we called the police to report that the body of the girl had been recovered, they took six hours to collect the body and that's why they are conducting shoddy investigations into the murder," John Kamau, a resident, said.
Kangema DCIO Peter Wahome said they were hunting for the boy, only for them to receive news that he had been located and beaten by a mob.
