Nairobi man arrested over KDF recruitment documents

Police in Nairobi on Friday arrested a 25-year-old man for making documents of the Kenya Defence Forces without permission.

Peter Nyabogoye Kaunda was arrested at Sir Yusuf Club in the central business district by officers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigators.

FINDINGS

Mr Kaunda was found with documents including an application to service form, a January 2019 calling letter and a police clearance certificate.

He also had a medical examination form and an application for an unknown recruitment.

The DCI reported the arrest via Twitter.

The military has been recruiting since November 19.

In the exercise that will end on December 19, it is seeking general recruits, tradesmen/women and constables.

Former Kenya Defence Forces members who served at least nine years in the colour service and former National Youth Servicemen are eligible for recruitment as constables.

Tradesmen must have a minimum mean grade of D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary School examination to qualify as general recruits.

The KDF is keen on recruiting tradesmen and women with diploma qualifications in fields such as computer science, journalism, medical laboratory, library, architecture, welding and automotive engineering.

Other areas are public health, dental technology, radiography, survey, cooperative management, community oral health, pharmacy and social work.
