MPs allow Uhuru, Raila to consult on IEBC

Members of the National Assembly have passed a motion seeking a two-day extension for the Joint Select Parliamentary Committee on electoral reforms to allow time for consultations with the two principals.

This gives time for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga to consult over the appointment of new officials to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mr Odinga has already said he wants to consult with the President over the matter.

Speaking on Wednesday in Nairobi, Mr Odinga said he was satisfied with the recommendations of the joint committee.
