Nairobi Governor reshuffles his cabinet

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has made changes to his cabinet, barely three months after the 10 county executive member took office.
It was not immediately clear why the governor made changes, though analysts say Mr Sonko wants to assert his authority after a run in with his deputy Polycarp Igathe who resigned last month.
“Pursuant to section 39 of the County Government Act…I have decided to reshuffle county executive members with immediate effect,” the February 27 letter signed by Mr Sonko says.
Finance executive Veska Kangogo has been moved to the Devolution and Public Service docket and replaced by Agriculture and Fisheries executive Danvas Makori.
REPLACED
Mr Larry Wambua who was heading the Devolution docket will now be in charge of Environment, taking over from Ms Emmah Mukuhi who has been transferred to ICT.
Mr Charles Kerich who was heading the ICT department has been moved to the Lands docket, replacing Mr Peter Njuguna who transfers to Agriculture.
However, Mr Hitan Majevda remains Health executive, Mr Allan Igambi (Tourism), Ms Janet Ouko (Education, Youth, Gender and Sports) and Mr Mohammed Dagane (Roads, Infrastructure and Transport) retained their dockets.
Meanwhile, the appointment of Mr Peter Kariuki whose name has been submitted to the assembly as county secretary nominee, has been put on hold as MCAs consult.
