Man commits suicide in police cell

A 41-year-old man has committed suicide in a police cell.

The man, who was accused of domestic violence, died in a police holding cell in Karagita, Naivasha.

Naivasha Deputy Officer Commanding Police Division John Kwasa, the man used his shoe laces to end his life on Monday night. 

DROP CHARGES

"He (suspect) was alone in the cell at the time of the incident, the police were shocked to find him dead in the morning," said Mr Kwasa.

Sources said the man had threatened to commit suicide as he was escorted to Karagita police post. 

"He told to his wife that he would kill himself if she did not drop charges against him,” added the source who did not wish to be named.

Mr Kwasa said the police are investigating the matter to establish what transpired prior to the suicide incident.
