In August, the Jubilee-dominated assembly received a rare praise from President Kenyatta for cutting the foreign trips budget and allocating the money to development projects in 55 wards.

“That is true sign of mature leadership. I urge the other 46 counties to borrow a leaf from Nakuru and redirect the money to where it will make a big impact on the lives of citizens,” said the President in his first address at the 78-member House.

With this rare complements from the Head of State, it was surprising to see the House reject a motion to adjourn the House to attend the Head of State’s function that would benefit Nakuru residents.
