Elburgon town traders counting losses after heavy rains

Traders in Elburgon town, Nakuru County, are counting losses following heavy rains accompanied by hailstones pounded the town on Saturday.

Mr John Koech was shocked to see his more than 2,000 tree seedlings destroyed.

"I had been watering my seedlings after the rains had subsided one week ago, now they are no more," said Mr Koech.

Mr Joseph Riri, a clothes dealer in town lost several items.

"I have lost items of unknown value," said Mr Riri who revealed that all the items outside his shop were destroyed.

Many houses in the town were flooded following the heavy downfall.

The rains caused many businesses to close early in order to clear the snow.
