Tuskys Supermarket has closed one of its branches in Nakuru for "stock taking".

The closure of the Hyrax branch, which is located on the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway, was announced in a public notice at the premises.

“We shall be closing the shop as from June 26, 2018 for stock taking. We apologies for any inconveniences,” read the notice.

But the  management could not disclose the period the outlet will be closed.

A source within the retail chain told Nation that the closure was a strategy to increase performance in the market.

The Nation learnt that the employees at the outlet will be transferred to other branches across the country.

The source ruled out speculations that the closure is as a result of stiff competition from Naivas Supermarket which is a few metres away from the Hyrax branch.

Tuskys CEO Daniel Githua said the supermarket will issue a statement on the closure.

Tuskys Supermarket is among the leading chain stores in the country and has four branches in Nakuru.
