Police in Bondo on Friday arrested a 66-year-old priest for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The minor, said to have been defiled by the cleric, is a Standard Eight pupil who has been staying with him.

A relative told the Nation that the cleric was arrested at his home by police officers after the minor reported the incident at a local children's home.

"A medical check-up confirmed that the girl had been defiled," said the relative.

North Sakwa Location Chief Hobson Omolo said the man of cloth is still in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.

"The minor is currently under police protection at a safe house to prevent her from any engagements that would interfere with the ongoing investigations," said the administrator.
