One killed, 41 injured after Climax bus rolls in Siaya

One person has died while 41 others have been injured after the bus they were travelling in rolled along the Kisumu-Siaya road.

The driver of the Nairobi-bound Climax bus from Siaya lost its control on reaching Ng'iya Sunday morning.

The bus rolled several times before landing in a ditch.

On board were 42 passengers, 16 men, 17 women and nine children.

A team from the Siaya County government’s Health department and Kenya Red Cross Society officials responded following the incident.

According to the acting Chief Officer of Health, Dr Omondi Owino, four ambulances together with a team of doctors and nurses were dispatched to the scene.

"Two survivors were taken to the theatre at Siaya County Referral Hospital where they are being treated. Doctors and nurses are also attending to other cases involving minor injuries," said Dr Owino.
